On May 12–13, 2025, Saarland University welcomed project partners of the Erasmus+ TANZIE project for a two-day study visit focused on internationalization strategies and innovative practices in higher education. The visit offered valuable insights into how European institutions structure and implement international engagement and cooperation.

The event opened with a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Jutta Kray, Vice President for Education, followed by an overview of the agenda by the host team. The sessions on the first day explored Saarland University’s internationalization strategy and the structure and activities of its International Office. Presentations also highlighted the university’s engagement with Latin America through the IDC Latin America initiative and its involvement in Jean Monnet projects, underlining a strong commitment to European and global academic cooperation.

The second day focused on innovative programs and international partnerships. Participants learned about the European University Alliance Transform4Europe (T4EU), the Global Classroom model for online international teaching, and the AMASE international study program led by EUSMAT. A session on Erasmus+ KA171 further illustrated how mobility schemes are used to foster global academic exchange.

The visit concluded with a presentation on the University of the Greater Region, a unique cross-border academic alliance, and a reflective session on key takeaways from the experience. A guided tour of the campus and networking moments enriched the visit, offering additional opportunities for institutional learning and dialogue.

This second TANZIE study visit significantly contributed to the project's goal of strengthening internationalization practices in Tanzanian higher education institutions through knowledge exchange, peer learning, and institutional collaboration.
