Following the successful kick-off meeting, the Erasmus+ Capacity Building project continued with an enriching two-day study visit hosted by the University of Alicante. This event, held on May 8th and 9th, 2025, brought TANZIE project partners together to explore institutional practices and strategies related to internationalization in higher education. All TANZIE partners have been participating in this study visit: Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), Mzumbe University (MU), Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM), The Nelson Mandela African Institute of Sciences (NM-AIST), Catholic University of Health And Allied Sciences (CUHAS), University Of Saarland (USAAR), EFMD, and University of Alicante (UA), as host institution.

The visit began with a series of insightful presentations from University of Alicante staff, offering an in-depth look into the institution’s internationalization framework. Topics included student and staff mobility, the Erasmus+ KA171 program, and the tangible benefits of international engagement for both students and faculty.

Contributions from representatives of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) added a broader perspective, with sessions focused on quality assurance, accreditation, and network-building in the context of internationalization. A practical workshop on stakeholder identification encouraged partners to reflect on how to engage key actors within their own institutions and local contexts.

The second day of the visit provided a closer look at the operational side of attracting international students and showcased good practices from previous Erasmus+ projects. A final session offered space for rich discussions around the training activities to be organized in the framework of the TANZIE project, and the specific needs identified among university staff at Tanzanian partners institutions.

This study visit served as an important milestone in the project, providing partners with practical insights, shared experiences, and a collaborative platform to support the development of sustainable internationalization strategies at their home institutions.
